BS EN compliant temporary edge protection system rail guard for staircases in the home

You will already be aware that a Principal Rake Guardrail alone is not a fully compliant system and additional components must be correctly installed to enable BS EN 13374 compliance. All components should be fixed in conjunction with fixing instructions and guidance notes. To reinforce site safety practices, Staircraft will no longer provide the principal guardrail for stairs as a stand-alone item.

To achieve full compliance, we have a components pack available to order

  • If ordered, the Principal Rake Pack guardrail for stairs is provided on a plot specific basis, cut to exact
  • dimension and pitch to suit each individual stair – see note above on compliance.
  • The system offers initial Health & Safety benefits where a defined system is not in place.
  • The Temporary Guardrail offers additional rigidity to flights during 1st fix until the preassembled balustrade is fitted.
  • The system uses our tested Quick-Fix interlocking brackets, so simple and convenient to fit on site reducing damage to newel posts.
  • Fixing instructions and checking procedures are included upon delivery.

  • The system can be re-used, however it is essential that the site management team  inspect the handrail regularly to ensure it is correctly fitted and not damaged.
  • If the full Staircraft Temporary Edge Protection system is not purchased, we will assume that alternative means of fall protections have been employed on site.
  • Health & Safety on site remains the responsibility of the builder and individual and Staircraft will not accept liability.
  • Full test details are available upon request.
  • To assist with site installation of this system, a Step-by-Step Guide, is included in this pack and will be supplied with the product.
