Employee Stories

Meet Magda

Say hi to Magda, she works on our Finance Team. Read her employee story to learn more about her career development with Staircraft…

My Staircraft journey began 6.5 years ago when I joined the company as a receptionist. This role was one of my first significant roles in this country, having originated from Poland, and I found it was a fantastic opportunity for me to get to know the company from the ground up.

As a front desk employee, I had the chance to meet many people and witness the company’s growth each year. I observed a collective focus on continuous improvement, which, along with the friendly atmosphere, motivated me to be a part of Staircraft. After about 2 years, I was promoted to the finance team.

This promotion into the finance team, and an opportunity to expand my accounts payable career, led me to take on more responsibilities such as; managing company suppliers, handling the purchase ledger, processing invoices, and ensuring timely payments. This progression has allowed me to develop my skills and contribute more substantially to the company’s financial operations.

On a typical day as a Purchase Ledger, I complete several key tasks to ensure smooth financial operations. I start by reviewing and processing supplier invoices, checking for accuracy and proper authorisation. Next, I match these invoices with purchase orders and delivery notes to ensure all details align. Throughout the day, I handle queries from suppliers and colleagues, addressing any discrepancies or issues that arise. I also prepare payment runs, ensuring all payments are made on time. Regular reconciliation of supplier statements is another important task, helping to maintain accurate financial records. Additionally, I monitor and manage any outstanding payments or credits, keeping everything up-to-date and in order.

My favourite thing about working at Staircraft and in an accounts payable career is the combination of a friendly environment and supportive colleagues. The management team is always encouraging, providing the independence and flexibility needed to excel in my role. Additionally, there are ample opportunities for career progression, including apprenticeship courses that help further develop my skills. This supportive and inclusive atmosphere makes Staircraft a truly great place to work.

In terms of my place within Staircraft and how I see the future, I’m most excited about the opportunities for growth and development within Staircraft and within my accounts payable career. The company’s commitment to continuous improvement and professional advancement means there are always new skills to learn and new challenges to tackle. I’m looking forward to taking on more responsibilities and contributing to the company’s success in innovative ways. Plus, the supportive and friendly environment makes me eager to see where our collective efforts will take us in the future.

My advice to anyone joining Staircraft is to embrace the supportive and collaborative culture here. Be open to learning and don’t be afraid to ask questions—everyone is very approachable and willing to help. Take advantage of the opportunities for professional development, such as apprenticeship courses, and make the most of the flexibility and independence the company offers. Most importantly, enjoy the journey and contribute to the friendly atmosphere that makes Staircraft a great place to work.
