In 2001 I started my construction apprenticeship with BKL joinery as an apprentice joiner. In around 2005, Staircraft acquired the company and I continued the last year in my construction apprenticeship as a joiner. My role initially was Stair Assembler, and I was then promoted to Supervisor, and then Works Manager for Stairs. I also made the move from Nuneaton to Bayton Road, during which time I was again promoted to Operations Manager, managing 5 factories, manufacturing stairs, internal stair parts, decking, doors and linings. Today, I am the Operations Manager for our Ansty site.

The main thing I love about my role is that no two days are the same. I meet different people day by day, contractors, potential new recruits and working closely with the wider Staircraft team. I am currently managing production in F4 mouldings, as well as CDM on completing the site construction plan. The team I work with are fantastic, they are all ambitious, hardworking and supportive, and keep me motivated.

Next steps for me at Staircraft include completing my Leap Apprenticeship in management Level 5, gaining experience in new products and seeing the Ansty site fully operational.

For anyone who wants to join the Staircraft team, I would say that there’s lots of opportunities, you just have to be willing to work hard and put yourself out there.
